I love listening to public radio, I must be masochistic

11/11/2009 at 11:02 AM (Uncategorized)

Okay, I’m not going to say much this time, but every time I listen to NPR I want to eat people’s souls. I hate it as much as I love it because I always want to argue with my computer or radio’s speakers. I can never find the blog/talk page thing in question. Oh what a curse my fascination with them is.

Nerding Out? – Pokemon Mods

10/21/2009 at 2:25 PM (Nerding Out)

Okay, so basically I’ve been playin’ a little Pokemon on my DS lately. What version, you ask? Well, to you nerds out there, I’ve been playin’ a few modded versions, and let me tell you, they are awesome. So, the first mod I tried was RolandHazoto‘s Perfect Platinum, which was (as far as I know) the first mod of Platinum that came out. It has a few nice features, first of all being the ability to catch or get ALL of the Pokemon in the game. Yeah, all 493 of them. Another nice feature is its full compatibility with the original game’s save files, making it theoretically possible to beat the original game, transfer the save to this mod, and use this mod to catch/get all of the Pokemon. Honestly, other than those two things, it’s not hugely different from the original game, storyline is pretty much unchanged, as are the Pokemon and sprites. Admittedly, I played this quite a long time ago, so it could have changed drastically since then, but enough about that mod.

The second mod, one of the ones I’ve been playing more recently, is none other than Buffy‘s Bloody Platinum, which changes a significant amount more than Perfect Platinum did. Generally, it does all of what Perfect Platinum did and more, changing a few sprites, recoloring some Pokemon, and generally switching things around. Although, being perfectly honest, I can’t say I like all of what Buffy’s done to it, for example, the ‘Shadow Pokemon’ thing that she’s done to some of the legendaries bugs the hell out of me. Although I do like the new player sprites and the improved (higher) difficulty it provides, increasing most all of the trainer’s levels and Pokemon, etc. One major problem I did have with it was the fact that not all of the sprites were fixed; for example, if you want to use fly, your player’s color will shift back to the original for the two-second animation, which looks absolutely terrible. BUT, aside from a few small things, I generally like the mod. I, if I had any authority at all, would hafta give it a 3.5/5, because it’s pretty good, but not amazing.

Last, but not least, is by far my favorite, I love it so far. It goes by the (very fitting) name of Pokemon Platinum: Enhanced Edition and was created by Wolfsclaw. Now, if you’ve read this far, I’m going to (continue) assuming that you know the game reasonably well and tell you about a few of my favorite changes. You should remember the intro, the professor’s spiel about how everyone loves Pokemon and what your name is and such; well, this mod makes that little intro to the game a ton more entertaining, a feature which I would have applauded had it been a mod of its own. But this mod goes further than that, also allowing you to catch all 493 Pokemon, setting new starters and allowing you to catch the original starters early in the game, and giving you a plethora of useful (and not so useful) items in the very beginning of the game, two of which happen to be the bicycle and the old rod. Now, I’ve only played like 30 minutes of it, but as far as I’ve seen, it’s been beautifully done and Wolfsclaw is either a genius, or has friends with really good ideas. I would sincerely hafta give this particular version an enhanced 5/5, beautiful job, Wolfsclaw.

Culinary

09/25/2009 at 3:17 PM (Uncategorized)

So, culinary is fun. But when you get put into a group of people that don’t want to work with others, and then told, “You have to work with them for 18 weeks”, things go to hell. Thankfully though, I have the teacher and a few students backing me up if my team gets out of control.

Today we made cookies. Plain ol’ sugar cookies. The only difference was that instead of using brown sugar, we used maple syrup. Those cookies were very delicious. Thankfully, one of the girls that was causing the whole problem in the group also wanted to get along with the group, but just didn’t know how. However, we do have a Hitler.

“Omg, I want to do that.”

“Hey, lady, you’re the chef de whatever, you’re supposed to be telling how and what we’re doing, not doing it for us.”

“Fuck you, let me cook.”

Ahahaha, that was great. She got in trouble and I got to laugh silently inside my head. Our sugar cookies didn’t turn out to be to Miho’s (teacher) wantings, but at least we got the color right. ^-^ Just need to work on the balls… and rolling them up perfectly.

I have a feeling I’m going to be sick of cookies after this class. Save me.

Bonsai!!!

09/16/2009 at 6:35 PM (Uncategorized)

To “Mr. Fox Kitsune”,

Bonsai plants are the best. Period. Not only do they have a sense of comfort when you’re around them, but they also make the place/room look more… green, shall we say. The nice rich green leaves. The design that’s unnaturally grown. The awesome and magnificent pottery that goes with it. Just, everything about a bonsai plant makes me want to get a bunch of them and turn my room into a jungle.

Hell, I might just do that. The fact that bonsai trees can also relate to other trees such as spruces, or blossom trees is amazing as well. I want a mini spruce forest. :3

Love,

My iPod Plug

09/07/2009 at 2:45 PM (Cool Products, Experiences)

Okay, I usually don’t like to help companies like apple, but I think the iPod deserves this plug. They’ve made a fan out of me. So,  a few days ago, I unknowingly left my iPod Nano (the first generation) in my pocket when it went through the wash. Now, as you may have figured out, I noticed after the washing. Frankly, I was pissed. You would be too, I think. Now, I figured I might as well try and see if it’d run anyway, so I left it out for a while (to drain out any potential water) and pushed a few buttons and such. Nothing. So, after that I take it and plug it into it’s socket-thing, wait for a few seconds.. Nothing. Pushed a few buttons and… WHOA!! It lives once again. Now, I won’t guarantee that all iPods’ll work after being washed, so don’t go tryin’ it yourself.

Hey everybody. This is, of course, Kitsune. I’m here to announce that two new bloggers– maybe one and a half would be more correct (one of them is horribly unreliable)–Anyway, “two” new bloggers should be showing up anytime now. This is lovely, ’cause I’m sick of pointing out that “we” is really just me. I feel so loved and so on.

-Still doin’ most of the work, Mr. Kitsune
